THE VFX OF THE PENGUIN (HBO)
For the HBO Original Limited Series The Penguin, more than 3,100 VFX shots were created across eight episodes. As a direct sequel to The Batman, the series places Gotham City in collapse—opening the door for Oswald “Oz” Cobb’s rise to power. Every effect was crafted to deepen character and story, aiming not to be noticed, but to be felt.
The work was shared across multiple vendors, with two studios presenting their contributions. Frost FX (Tallinn, Estonia) delivered major sequences including a dry-shot car chase transformed into a torrential downpour through an intricate mix of classic 2D elements, advanced FX animation, Gotham City DMP extensions, and rushing-water simulations.
Stormborn Studios (Vancouver) led Episode 3, “Bliss,” bringing to life the emotionally devastating flood that claims young Victor’s family—an intense, simulation-driven sequence designed to hit with full emotional weight.

AI-Driven VFX Detection Pipeline
The Visual Effects (VFX) industry is evolving rapidly, with Artificial Intelligence (AI) at the forefront of innovation. This project transitions a conceptual startup idea into a groundbreaking prototype for detecting VFX elements in film scripts. The AI system analyzes individual episodes and entire seasons, significantly enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of VFX categorization.
At its core, the pipeline leverages advanced semantic analysis, natural language processing (NLP), and Generative Pre-trained Transformer (GPT) models. These tools provide a deep understanding of script content, enabling structured and consistent extraction of VFX elements. The system's practical applications, from script breakdowns to storyboard generation, demonstrate its potential to transform VFX workflows.
